If you fancy a new view on the London restaurant scene than Windows restaurant in the Hilton Park Lane could be just what you’re looking for.

What we have here is a location right up on the 28th floor on park lane with views nestling in heaven, I mean, it is absolutely fabulous, the views across london in every direction are outstanding. Looking southward you can see well beyond Crystal palace and towards the south downs, looking North of course you see the hills of Highgate and Hampstead, looking out west is a superb view, you see the newly built Wembley stadium, and looking out east you see right the way across the city and the wonderful new buildings towards Canary Wharf and beyond.

The best way to sum up the menu is modern French classic dishes. All the dishes have good bases in very old classic French cuisine but theres a modern touch and a lightness to the dishes. It’s a very clean style of cooking. There’s no clutter on it, we’re market led and seasonably inspired, so it’s an ever-changing, evolving menu.

I’ve spoked to a number of chefs about whether they’d like to have a restaurant in a fabulous location like this, and a number of people have said, ‘Ugh  one of the things about that restaurant I don’t like is the views.’ And I say, ‘Why?’ They say, ‘Its because my food has to compete with the glorious views!’

IV: Chef

It’s important we don’t try to compete with the views. I think its, uh, such a beautiful restaurant, a destination restaurant, and people are predominantly coming for the view, beautifully designed, so we’re fortunate with that. The food must sit comfortably side by side with that. It’s not intended to Wow, but its certainly intended to exceed people’s expectations in its quality and delivery, but its never intended to upstage such a wonderful space.
