BFI London IMAX
VO
Here, between the concrete towers of the south bank, and the Victorian opulence of Waterloo station, lies the future: the future of cinema. It’s the most powerful and involving film experience ever designed, and it’s bigger, in more ways than one. Each frame of film is over ten times larger than normal 35 mm film which produces amazingly clear images, but that’s not the only thing worth boasting about.
VOX
The screen is huge.
VOX
The screen is just enormous. You can’t actually believe how big the screen is going to be until you get in there.
VO
We’ve done the calculations, and it’s actually twenty meters high and twenty six meters wide, which makes it the biggest screen in the UK. Add some digital surround sound and your film experience is complete.
VOX
You just get pulled right into the film itself, it’s all around you. It surrounds you.
VOX
It’s not nearly as impressive when you see a normal film as compared to this one.
VO
The cinema runs over 5 different films daily, and most of them are suitable for kids and adults. From dramatic true stories that take you to the very top of mount Everest, to the latest fantasy adventures in haunted castles. And if you’re after the ultimate cinematic experience, you’ve come to the right place, because many films here are shown in 3D.
VOX
You can’t help but feel part of it – when you’re going through a scene you do feel like you’re actually travelling. That’s what my little boy said – he thought we were really moving. It was very good.
VOX
You’re much closer up to the action of things, and particularly if you go see the 3D films. Everything’s coming towards you and moving away, and the film will take you right in the middle of it.
VO
To get the full effect, you need to put on your 3D glasses….. NOW. Otherwise, this could look like a plastic dinosaur. If it does, get down to Waterloo for some truly haunting experiences.
