Next up is one for the kids at the Science Museum with the re – opening of the Launchpad, its most popular interactive gallery. Never has science been so much fun. Think of it like a scientific version of Charlie and the chocolate factory. Massive bubbles, wave machines, shooting rockets,… I’ve never seen so many children wide eyed and paying attention to science. You don’t have to be Einstein to know that rockets plus children multiplied by bubbles equals fun…
The Launchpad is a gallery that has been in the science museum for the past 20 years but we have a brand new version. Science is definitely not boring there are 50 great examples in the gallery of how exciting science can be. You can make a bubble that is a big as your self, you can fire a water rocket 30 meters across the gallery, you can shout down a tube and hear the echo bouncing back at you. There are so many things in here that prove science is exciting. We want them to be asking questions when they come to the Launchpad so we want them to be thinking about everything they are using. We want them to be curious about everything and really inspired about science. The great thing about it is that maybe in six months time when they are in the class room they will remember back to that experience of playing on the big machine and seeing it as this incredibly fun experience.
The Launchpad is a permanent gallery at the Science museum and it is open daily from 10am – 6pm. Entry is free and the nearest tube is south Kensington.
